Juarez in San Antonio. #FTW


If you happen to be in San Antonio tonight (Nov 15) you should go over to the University of Texas at San Antonio’s Institute of Texan Cultures (801 E. Cesar Chavez Blvd) where they are having an opening for their show Arte Chihuahua, featuring, logically enough, a host of artists from Juarez and Chihuahua. The show officially opened on Nov 5th and is going on until May 5 so there’s plenty of time to see it, but the opening reception is tonight.
From the list of contributors, it appears there is a large diversity of media as well as approaches, from the conceptual like Luz Galvan to the experimental like Alfredo tellez “Bandido” to the somewhat more traditional Veronica Leiton so they should have a good idea of the diversity going on on this side of the border.  The show is curated by Arturo Infante Almeida and Clarissa Gutierrez Carrasco, and…
