Los libros objeto funcionan en conjunto para traducir an audiovisual jam conceived, constructed y ejecutado en colaboración con Gabriela Durán Barraza; the QR code takes the visitor to the video-documentation of the original piece:

The flagbook [inkjet on canvas and matte cardstock, 8x12In., 66In. when fully extended, assembled by hand] recollects hundreds of sound samples that were used during the performance, each existing in a flap of its own para que cada lector pueda recrear el proceso de remezcla que sonorizó cada una de las representaciones de Bits and Pieces desde el Inxilio.

El pergamino [inkjet on canvas, 10×122.5In.] contains a sequence of stills, representative of the numerous video samples que fueron utilizados durante cada una de las representaciones de Bits and Pieces desde el Inxilio.

Nada Whole Ojalá Refeed

Is Nada Whole Ojalá translated into a Korsakow film and presented as a participatory video-installation.

As users engage Nada Whole Ojalá Refeed la videoinstalación responde by offering tres pequeños videoclips (ranging in length from 20-some seconds to 2 minutes and chage, 58 videos in total) de los cuales one can be clicked opening up three more possible videos to choose from. De esta manera cada usuario is capable of carving out a path of their own, cada quien experiementa but a chosen few of all the available videos ya que es casí imposible verlos todos en una sola sesión.

Performace Conversacional

Comenzó las tres noches with a reading from the book Ojalá. Acto seguido sugerí algunas ideas para una posible conversación. Las primeras dos noches the conversation began by asking the audience to think of a question about Juárez, de preferencia una pregunta que nunca antes hubieran tenido que contestar. The last night I simply asked the audience ¿Por qué Juárez? ¿Por qué aquí? ¿Por qué ahora?

Y las conversaciones… the conversations went by largely undocumented ya que aún me cuesta trabajo entender cómo documentarlas sin afectar su fluidez while at the same time representing them accurately. Cada noche las ideas y los temas variaron de acuerdo a los interlocutores presentes. We spoke of the ways that Juárez ha cambiado durante los último diez años, we spoke of gated communities and transposing espacios públicos a los privados. We spoke of sociedades de vecinos that shame their neighbors via public message boards dónde anuncian quién debe la cuota de que. We spoke of art, interpretation y lo problematico que resulta cualquier intento de interpretar lo que sea, lo mismo con las traducciones. We spoke of mediated cities, de experimentar nuestra ciudad a partir de realidades completamente difrentes. We spoke of la idea del fronterizo como identidad adoptada and inherited, de racismo y la ausencia del mismo, de nuestras capacidades significativamente reducidas de cambiar nuestros entornos. We spoke de acentos. We spoke.

everyCITYcadaPROXIMOfuturo

in the near future every city will be a bedroom
backalleys will be bedsheets
streetlamps will be whispers shared.
motorcycle wheels gripping wet asphalt will be replaced by single voices
bouncing off hollow bodies
expanding
coming to rest
only upon finding the softest of spots where perpetual motion is no longer
desired
required
repossessed

in the near future distances will be measured in heartbeats
moments passed will be valued in breaths
finality will not be much more than empty doorways
and nightfall will be taken over
by the brightest of chatter
the noncommitment of breakfast by the kitchen counter
the wetness of lips
as they steal a kiss
off a forgotten cigarette

in the near future history books will be collections of twirling tongues and saliva drops
your voice will travel
from doorknobs to windows
from intestines to fingertips
from menstrual blood to semen scabs
the echo of your every word
will trigger my every step like a vile of blood que me acompaña
en mi cada viaje a casa
mi cada retorno a donde quiera
en donde nunca estoy

in the near future i will be dead
because only decay and demise
poseen nudillos suficientes
to perpetually grasp change

in the near future i will no longer miss you and i will no longer fear you
you will be my lover next door
and i will recognize your every inch of skin by smell alone
i will have no country
solo vecinos
i will have no flag
solo apellidos
no tendre fronteras
only personal spaces
i will have no language
sin cultura
only labios
solo garganta
opposable thumbs
y un puño entero de corazon
